The project by the regional center for national cultures received a grant

The department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) summed up the results of the contest on preservation of folklore of Selkoup people (indigenous ethnic minority).

The project by the regional center for national culture on publishing of the book of folklore "Chapta. Fairy-tales of northern Selkoup people" became the winner and received the grant in 125 thousand rubles. The money will be spent on publishing of the book, which includes unique materials collected by the results of two expeditions. By the information given in the press-service of the governor of Yamal, the ethnographic expeditions are activities of the project "The golden fund of culture of Yamal". They took place in Krasnoselkoup and Purovskiy districts in 2012-2013. They were organized by the department of culture of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the regional Center for national cultures and the House of crafts. The participants of the expeditions collected 54 handwritten folkloristic units and 26 units in audio-format.
