The project "Kara Sea Expeditions" was started in Yamal

The sitting of the organizing committee on fulfillment of the project "Kara Sea Expeditions" took place in Salekhard under the chairpersonship of the acting deputy governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the chief of the apparatus of the governor Natalia Figol.

Employees of regional departments and also representatives of the military commissariat of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the service on affairs of archives of the region, the regional Museum-exhibition complex of Shemanovskiy, the regional House of crafts, the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society and others participated in the action. Opening the sitting, Natalia Figol reminded that 2014 had been announced the Year of civil unity in Yamal. Thus, by her words, it needs to remember about upbringing of patriotism, strengthening of intentions in the society to solve important problems together and also assisting in development of public initiatives. The project "Kara Sea Expeditions" became one of such initiatives. It was supported by the head of Yamal. The project is conducted for perpetuating the memory of people of Yamal, who died on battle fronts of the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945 and workers of the home front. Till 2016 it is supposed to create the complex of electronic databases "Memory of Yamal", to organize memorial activities "We remember" and search work. It is planned to create the central search committee of the project "Kara Sea Expeditions". By the information given to IA "Sever-Press" in the press-service of the governor of Yamal, several variants of the logotype of "Kara Sea Expeditions" were scrutinized on the sitting. Besides, the scheme of the memorial complex "The Bells of the Memory" was presented to the participants. It will complete the chapel on Beliy Island with the bell-tower of 6 bells. The biggest bell with the weight 40 kilograms will symbolize the memory about the Great Patriotic War, other 5 bells will be dedicated to the participants of the convoy "White Sea – Dikson N5", who died, all polar explorers, who worked on Beliy Island, polar pilots, victims of GULAG and children of the war.
