The project "The Northern Latitudinal Railway" was presented on the sitting of the coordinating council of "Russian Railways" in Chelyabinsk

The main transport project of Yamal – the Northern Latitudinal Railway was presented within the sitting of the interregional coordinating council of "Russian Railways" in Chelyabinsk. A deputy governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Vasiliy Stepanov reported about fulfillment of the project of the transport line in the arctic region.

As he notes, northern territories of Russia are related to strategic districts with colossal natural resource potential. Railroad transport is the most effective way to deliver equipment and machinery, industrial goods, foodstuff necessary for functioning of territorial and production complexes and life support of population. Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the open joint-stock company "Russian Railways" are connected with long-term partner relations, what allows solving important issues and fulfilling significant projects. As we should remind, the Northern Latitudinal Railway is the line with the length 707 kilometers, which will connect the Northern Railway and the Sverdlovsk Railway. In the prospect it will provide approach of the transport system of Russia to the Northern Sea Route – through the Yamal peninsula to the sea port of Sabetta. Vasiliy Stepanov reminds that project documentation for building of the bridge passage across the Ob River, the railroad sector Salekhard-Nadym and also two railroad lines to the right and left passages of the bridge across of the Ob River has been already elaborated. Within the Northern Latitudinal Railway Yamal builds the motor-road Salekhard – Nadym. Building of the bridge passage across the Nadym River is close to completion. It is one of the basic links of the future railroad line, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs. The project "The Northern Latitudinal Railway" was supported by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and approved by the government of the Russian Federation. The government of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, "Russian Railways", "Gazprom", "The Corporation of Development", "Yamal Railway Company" and private investors are participants of the project. The following companies are potential cargo senders: "NOVATEK", "Geotransgaz", the corporation "Rosneftegaz", Noviy Urengoy gas chemical complex, "Gazpromtrans" and "Rospan International".
