The rating of ecological responsibility of oil and gas companies will appear in Russia

This year CREON Energy and WWF Russia initiated the project of the ecological rating of oil and gas companies of the Russian Federation.

As the public organizations are sure, it will become the orientating point for the branch and for the wide public.

As it is informed in the press-service of the WWF Russia, the oil and gas branch of Russia is one of the most ecologically unfriendly branches, but, at that, both today and in the medium-term prospect exactly this branch is and will be the basis of economy of the country, and it means that efforts of the whole society for its ecologization are necessary. By the words of the director on nature-protecting policy of WWF Russia Evgeny Schwartz, till the present moment an instrument, which would allow receiving objective and comparable information about the level of socio-ecological responsibility of companies and scale of influence of their activity on environment, was absent in Russia. As he adds, the rating, which will be fulfilled, will become the basis of the full-scale "Rational Approach" Project. It is organized for support of green economy. "Rational Approach" Project is the rating, the results of which will be public. This is the prize, which will be given to oil and gas companies showing the best ecological results. This is the row of thematic business-conferences, international experience, details, nuances, problems and ways of their solving, as he notes. Open discussion of the project on methodology of the rating is taking place within the 21st World Petroleum Congress with participation of invited experts, ecologists and representatives of leading oil and gas companies on the stand of the co-organizer of the project CREON Energy.
