The Ribbon of Saint George with the length in many meters was carried through streets of the town Salekhard in the honor of the Victory Day

The holiday meeting dedicated to the 69th anniversary of the Great Victory took place in Salekhard on the 9th of May.

Hundreds of town-dwellers came to pay the tribute to the memory of people, who had died in the years of the Great Patriotic War. Many people decorated their clothes with the holiday ribbons of Saint George. The chairperson of the Legislative Assembly of Yamal Sergey Kharyuchi congratulated veterans with the great holiday and called younger generation to remember the war and those people, who had sacrificed their lives and health for the victory over fascism. As he said, we are in the eternal debt before these people. The head of the town Salekhard Ivan Kononenko also congratulated veterans of the war, workers of home front and all inhabitants of the region with this great and bright holiday of the Victory. He said: "We gathered here to pay the tribute to the memory of those people, who had died on battle fields and those people, who worked on home front. Let devotion and respect to those, who defended peaceful time for us, will stay in hearts of our people forever. Eternal glory and memory to all the heroes of our Motherland". He wished veterans for strong health, wellbeing, happiness and long years of life. The ceremony was changed into the march of the holiday. Cadets of Salekhard carried the Ribbon of Saint George with the length in many meters through streets of the town. People marched with photographs of their relatives – veterans: fathers, grandparents and great-grandparents. After the march the participants of the meeting laid flowers to the Eternal Flame. Memory of people, who had died in the Great Patriotic War, was honored with the Silence Minute.
