The stage of study and exploration. It is scheduled to start up Tazovskoye field in 2021

Tazovskoye field is the first in Yamal. It was discovered more than half a century ago, but it was not developed on the industrial scale, it provided gas only for nearby settlements. Now the field is experiencing the second birth.

In 2017 “Gazprom Neft” received the right to develop its subsoil; “Gazpromneft-Razvitie” became the operator of the project. The field is located about 10 kilometers from the settlement Gaz-Salye. Not only gas but also oil is extracted here. According to Ivan Shurygin, the manager of the extraction workshop of the field for servicing of Tazovskoye field, now experimental-industrial exploitation is taking place. It means that specialists are studying the field, finding out geological conditions, how a stratum behaves, how a fluid behaves, when it is lifted and transported. Extraction in the field is paused now, as the media “TV Studio Fact” informs. In the spring period absence of the crossing over the Pur River does not allow transporting oil, but planning and preventive kinds of work are conducted constantly, security is the priority. As it is explained by the production supervisor for servicing of Tazovskoye field Alexander Malofeev, there are many contractors working on the enterprise, each of them has its own understanding of security. The company consolidates and demands for fulfillment of strict instructions and local-normative documentation of Gazprom Neft. Also there is a system of five steps - before work, specialists stop and specify what they need to do. After that they define risks, consequences and then decide whether they can continue to work. Tazovskoye field is referred to the class of large fields with the low exploration maturity. A thin oil layer of only 8-10 meters is located under the large gas cap. According to Ivan Shurygin, there are many difficulties in oil extraction in Tazovskoye field. Oil is of high density, thick, very difficult to lift. Just six months ago the company Gazpromneft-Razvitie completed drilling of the first well here, now there are 4 of them. All of them are highly complex; one of them is unique in the perimeter of Gazprom Neft. “It is connected to the fact that the length of the production casing is much shorter than the liner. We have the liner record by the length, it is the well 31-04, the length - 2070 meters. The previous record was set in Novoportovskoye field - the depth there made 2004 meters”, as Alexander Malofeev said. In other words, the well goes on 1 kilometer 180 meters deep into and more than on 2 kilometers - to the side. Its construction took only 28 days. Now 46 specialists of “Gazpromneft-Razvitie” are working in the field. In the prospect the company plans to build the oil pipeline with the length 40 kilometers. Passages for reindeer will be provided here. Commissioning of Tazovskoye field is planned for 2021. It is expected that oil production there will exceed 2 million tonnes per year.
