The teams of “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” and the world are competing in Noviy Urengoy

The 6th open international championship on Kumite Kyokushinkai “The Cup of Yamburg – Yamal 2016” is taking place in Noviy Urengoy.

The competitions are taking place by the initiative of the company “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” at participation of the International Kyokushinkai Karate Federation. The team of the gas-extracting enterprise is competing with the combined team of the world. This year the format of the competitions was changed: professional rating fights of the best karatekas of the planet are being presented to the audience. The winner in each of three weight categories is chosen by the results of 5 two-minute rounds. According to the information given to IA “Sever-Press” in the service on public relations and communication with mass media of “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg”, Dawid Ozga from Great Britain and Khoase Tshepo Prince from the Republic of South Africa are participating in the weight category up to 75 kilograms within the world’s team. Miyahara Jo from Japan and Jonathan Redondo Cardoso are competing with the Russian sportsmen in the average weight category. Ulf Kevin Wiklund from Sweden and Ilia Yakovlev from Kazakhstan are participating in the heavy weight category. The team of “Gazprom dobycha Yamburg” in the light weight category is being represented by Yevgeniy Solomennikov and Anton Adushkevich. Andrey Borisov and Denis Chepkasov are competing for awards in the weight category up to 85 kilograms, the titled sportsmen Artur Tilov and Vitaliy Ishakhneli – in the heavy weight category. The first Cup of Russia behind the Polar Circle on this kind of sport took place on the 27th of April of 2001 by the initiative of the enterprise “Yamburggazdobycha” and the Kyokushinkai Karate Federation of the town Noviy Urengoy. In several years it was decided to make these competitions regular and to conduct once in two years. The first open international championship on Kumite Kyokushinkai “The Cup of Yamburg” took place in April of 2006 in the settlement for workers Yamburg. The tournament is included to the list of official competitions of the International Kyokushinkai Karate Federation.
