The unified mapping system of Yamal was recognized the winner in the contest of web-applications

The unified mapping system of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was recognized the winner in the nomination “Professional web-GIS” in the contest of web-applications in the sphere of geographic information systems (GIS). Its results were summed up in Moscow on the 22nd ESRI conference in Russia and the CIS countries.

The unified mapping system operates with spatial data about the territory of the region. Its development and operation is provided by the department of information technologies and communication of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Administrative functions are performed by the Agency “Resources of Yamal”. Informational structure of the system includes primary cartographic basis, address maps of populated areas of the region, materials of space survey of territories in 2013 - 2016, various thematic data. Examples of successful implementation of functional potential of the system include duty maps of unified duty-dispatching services of towns and maps of municipalities with an opportunity of own thematic filling in the data. The following systems operate: for monitoring of forest fires, floods, forestry activity, for providing the authorities with materials of the Earth’s remote sensing, for monitoring of objects of cultural heritage and others. In addition, within the conference the office of cartography of “Resources of Yamal” has become the winner of the competition “The Maps Gallery” for the second year in a row, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs. Last year the victory was won by the project “Beliy Island”, this year - by “The Tourist Atlas of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug”. As we should note, the ESRI conference is the largest event in the sphere of geographical information technologies in Russia and the CIS countries. This year it attracted more than one hundred organizations. Branch and technical sessions, thematic round tables, master-classes, contests of mapping web-applications and maps created with use of GIS technologies ArcGIS were conducted on the conference.
