This year the camp of Yamal "Young Captain" will take place in Kronshtadt for the first time

The session in the regional defense and sports camp-expedition "Young Captain" was organized for schoolchildren of Yamal. It will last from the 10th to the 30th of June.

The camp was created for the first time on the basis of the educational battalion for training of junior specialists of the Navy in the town Kronshtadt of Leningrad Oblast. 30 children from Noyabrsk, Muravlenko and the settlement Urengoy of Purovskiy district will come here. Last year they became prizewinners and winners of the open competitions of Yamal on military-applied kinds of sport "Patriot". By the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" in the regional center for patriotic education, the camp-expedition is being conducted for raising the level of voluntary training to military service for adolescents of Yamal. Therefore, the educational program includes courses of general military regulations, drill, firearms and naval training. The children of Yamal will study maritime practice and bases of safety of military service, including military-medical training, radiation, chemical and biological defense. The big sports and games program is planned. Kronshtadt is the town of maritime and military glory, the unique object of historical and cultural legacy of Russia. Thus, the children of Yamal will have the opportunity to visit the Naval Cathedral, museums and forts in Kronshtadt, the Central naval museum and the Hermitage. In the conclusion of the session the children will receive certificates about participation in the camp-expedition "Young Captain". The defense and sports camp-expedition "Young Captain" has been organized for the 8th time by the department of youth policy and tourism of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the regional center for patriotic education and the representational office of Yamal in Saint-Petersburg. During all the previous years the camp was placed in Krasnodar Krai. Almost 250 pupils of centers, clubs and establishments of Yamal became the participants of the camp. In 2006 the project "Young Captain" was awarded with the title of the laureate of the regional youth prize "For contribution to fulfillment of state youth policy in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug" and was recognized "The event of the year" as a bright idea in the sphere of patriotic education.
