“We have entire towns behind the Polar Circle”. Russia monitors climate change

The annual press conference of the President of the Russian Federation took place on the 19th of December. According to President Vladimir Putin, Russia intends closely to monitor climate change and take measures to minimize consequences of the warming.

“We have entire towns behind the Polar Circle, which were built on permafrost. There could be serious consequences. The warming and other cataclysms can lead to desertification of some territories. This all touch us directly”, Putin said.

He underlines that the administration of the state will make every effort to minimize consequences of these changes.
