“We went out like into the outer space”. Another group of tourists visited Yamal and will never forget it

Another group of tourists visited Yamal. This time the guests decided radically to change the surrounding and went not for the traditional Reindeer Herder’s Day but in the thick of everyday life of nomads. What they saw shook the guests to the core.

Life of indigenous population appeared before the Muscovites without embellishment. Although the weather was relatively warm - 6 degrees below zero, but terrible blizzard was raging in open tundra. It allowed the tourists to see how residents of Yamal protect their dwelling – a choum - from the wind. Outside and inside they support it with boards, sleds and other heavy objects. Otherwise, the dwelling will be simply carried away.

Taking a biobreak, which required equipment not worse than for a hike, for example, in the mountains, deserved a separate story. “We went out like into the outer space”, the tourists joke.

As we should note, the tourist sphere in Yamal, though slowly, but is developing. Mostly people, who already are surfeited with sandy beaches and “all inclusive” vacation, arrive to the region. Toneless colors, snow, blizzard, lack of amenities and communication attract them more than the sea coast. But the main “idea” when making such a trip is the opportunity to look deep into oneself, to assess own potential, to see how beautiful and diverse is the world around.
