On Sunday Yamal, together with the whole country, is celebrating the Day of workers of oil and gas industry. The Autonomous Okrug is the leading supplier of hydrocarbon raw materials in Russia and the world. The arctic region annually accounts for more than 80% of Russian and up to 20% of global natural gas production. Subsidiaries of Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, NOVATEK, Rosneft and others are the main oil and gas extracting enterprises in the region.

Aleksey Sitnikov, the curator of the branch and the first deputy governor of Yamal, also congratulated specialists of fuel and energy complex on their professional holiday.

“Thanks to the veterans, their strength of spirit and professionalism, Yamal became the stronghold area and the strategic outpost of the Russian state in the Arctic. Today projects that have no analogues in the world are being implemented here with use of the most advanced technologies. And there is a great merit of workers of oil and gas industry in these achievements, of those people, who with dignity continue great traditions of pioneers. I wish strong health to all of you, new victories and achievements!”, as it is said in the message.

The Autonomous Okrug actively develops hydrocarbon potential of arctic territories, creates new oil and gas production centers, develops communications and implements major investment projects.

It should be noted that in the situation with the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus, the management of oil and gas enterprises promptly responded to the changing situation in the country and the world, ensuring operation of enterprises in the uninterrupted mode, while preserving jobs. According to the press service of the head of the region, the level of participation of fuel and energy companies in social life of the region remained high.

The region actively develops the project for extraction of liquefied gas. All three stages of the plant “Yamal LNG” operate with the total capacity of 16 million and 500 thousand tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year, and the fourth stage of the plant is also being prepared for launch (+ 0.9 million tonnes per year). Completion of construction of the line “Yamal LNG” is being expected in the fourth quarter of this year, and then specialists will start commissioning and launching operations.

Despite the massive postponement and cancellation of other LNG projects in the world, construction of the second gas liquefaction plant “Arctic LNG-2” is being continued on the Gydan Peninsula. It is planned to launch the enterprise on time, the first stage will appear in 2023.

In addition, due to commissioning of the oil pipeline “Zapolyarye-Purpe”, oil fields are being successfully developed in the North-East of the region. As a result of these and other achievements, oil extraction in the region will reach up to 40 million tonnes in 2020.

The third stage of Bovanenkovskoye field will allow increasing gas extraction up to 115 milliard cubic meters per year by 2022. Investment decisions were taken to start commercial development of Kharasaveyskoye field with gas reserves in 2 trillion cubic meters.

The region is also implementing the project on development of extractive fields on the Yamal Peninsula and adjoining water areas. 33 hydrocarbon fields were discovered on the territory. Prepared proven gas reserves only the Yamal Peninsula make more than 17 trillion cubic meters.

“Yamal has huge resource potential. Oil and gas industry is one of priority areas of development of the region, where the latest technologies are used and top-class professional specialists work. Oil and gas extracting workers of Yamal have every reason to be proud of their work and look confidently to the future. Your work requires extensive knowledge, special skills and a lot of effort. I wish collectives of enterprises good health, wellbeing, professional success and new production achievements”, Vladimir Galuza, the director of the regional department of natural resource regulation, forest relations and development of oil and gas complex, congratulated employees of the branch.
