Yamal is upgrading its fleet and optimizing logistics of river routes

On the 5th of July Russia celebrates the Day of employees of the sea and river fleet. There are about 300 thousand lakes and 50 thousand rivers on the territory of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the largest of which are the Ob, Nadym, Taz and Pur rivers.

In Yamal, in the Year of roads, specialists from districts and the region are working to improve transport links in polar settlements. Thus, at the expense of this year regional subsidy, two new riverboats “KS-162” will be purchased for passenger transportations between Samburg and Urengoy, Aksarka and Beloyarsk. A new 44-seat vessel is designed with consideration of northern climate: it can travel 600 kilometers without refueling and reach the speed of 45 km/h at full displacement. The riverboat has heating systems in all its main parts. The passenger compartment has 8 seats for disabled passengers. The small draft of the ship will allow going along shallow channels of the Ob River and taking passengers on board even from an unequipped shore. Residents of Shuryshkarskiy district will be among the first to evaluate the modern riverboat. It is planned to launch the vessel during the navigation period of this year. The riverboat KS-162 purchased last year will run on intra-municipal routes.

The government of Yamal subsidizes six inter-municipal and two interregional passenger routes. The interregional routes connect Yamal with Yugra, Tyumen and Omsk regions. Inter-municipal ones allow going from the capital of the region to populated areas of Yamalskiy, Shuryshkarskiy, Priuralskiy, Tazovskiy and Nadymskiy districts. Today, vessels of the project A-145 “Viktor Chernomyrdin” and “Rem Vyakhirev”, two vessels “Meteor”, motor boats “Rodina”, “Mekhanik Kalashnikov”, “Farman Salmanov” and ferryboats operate on the subsidized areas.

Transportation of motor vehicles by ferryboats on the route “Salekhard-Priobye” remains an important part of navigation in the region because of lack of regular automobile traffic between Yamal and Yugra. This direction is not subsidized from the budget of the region, but in order to create equal opportunities the framework agreement is concluded annually between carriers and the executive power of the region. The schedule, rights and obligations of the parties are formed in it.

The governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov, the curator of the branch, the first deputy head of the region Aleksey Sitnikov, the director of the regional department of transport and road management Maksim Pershikov and other official persons congratulated employees of the river fleet of Yamal on their professional holiday.
