Yamal participated in the Silk Road EXPO in China. The partnership potential of the two countries is huge

The fourth international Silk Road EXPO was held in Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, China. This is the first official visit of the delegation of Ural Federal Okrug to China. The representatives of Ural region introduced its commercial-industrial, educational, tourist potential. The governors of Ural subjects worked at 30 Expo venues for further development of international and interregional relations between the two countries.

“China is our strategic partner today, as the leaders of our countries say. Today only three regions of Ural Federal Okrug have agreements with regions of China. I would like interregional ties be established with all our six regions”, said the Ural Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President Nikolay Tsukanov.

The stand of Yamal, starting from the first minutes of the opening, attracted attention of business representatives, the leadership of Shaanxi Province, residents of the city. Yamal presented products of venison, fish and wild-growing plants of agricultural enterprises “Yamal Product” (on the basis of “Salekhard fish-processing plant”) and the firm “Nyda-Resource”. The company “Yasavey” presented tourist potential of the region. Interest was aroused with bright performances of the governor’s ensemble of ethnic dance “Syra-Sev”. According to the department of external relations of Yamal, about 10 thousand people visited the stand of Yamal during two days.

“China is one of the main buyers of liquefied natural gas from NOVATEK. Last summer for the first time in history two tankers with products of the plant “Yamal LNG” overcame the Northern Sea Route to the east without icebreaking support and arrived from our arctic seaport of Sabetta to the Chinese port of Jiangsu Rudong. The huge Chinese market creates all conditions for our cooperation. I am sure that “Polar Silk Road” will be part of the broader Chinese program “One Belt, One Road”, said the governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov.

He hopes that the Chinese partners will show interest not only in Yamal hydrocarbons, but also in products of native branches - environmentally friendly venison, meat, fish, as well as ethnographic and extreme tourism. Artyukhov invited the potential partners to the study tour to Yamal to get acquainted with all proposals personally.

In Xi’an the authorities of Yamal began negotiations with potential partners to sell agricultural products of Yamal on the Chinese market. It is assumed that extension of the market will stimulate preservation of traditional forms of economy, the original way of life of indigenous peoples, as the press service of the head of the region informs.

It should be noted that 2018 and 2019 are called the years of Russian-Chinese interregional cooperation. This year the seventieth anniversary of establishment of the People’s Republic of China and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries is being celebrated. In 2018 the trade turnover between the countries overcame the mark in 100 milliard dollars, 7 milliard 200 million of which account for regions of Ural Federal Okrug.
