Youth of Yamal will go to the expedition "The call of tundra"

The regional youth expedition "The call of tundra" dedicated to the Year of civil unity in the region will take place in Yamal from the 13th to the 20th of July.

20 people from the town Salekhard, Priuralskiy, Yamalskiy, Tazovskiy and Shuryshkarskiy district will become its participants. They are representatives of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North: students of secondary and higher education institutions and also working young people. According to the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" in the regional youth center, the expedition is being conducted for preservation of traditions of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North among children and young representatives of indigenous population. After conducting of safety instructions, the participants will go on the route: the town Salekhard – the settlement Muzhi – the village Khanty-Muzhi – the settlement Shuryshkary – the settlement Katravozh – the settlement Pelvozh – the town Salekhard. There it is planned to meet with population, rural youth and representatives of the district branches of the association "Yamal is for descendants". The travelers will get acquainted to history of the populated areas, will lay flowers to monuments of warriors, will visit the museum in the open air in the village Khanty-Muzhi and will collect ethnographic materials. They will live in the campground, which will be organized on long-term stops. They will cook food on the fire in field conditions. The program of the expedition consists of two parts. The first part supposes socially useful work in the campground, hikes to national nomadic camps, fishing camps and choums. (The note: a choum is home of nomads in the north, it is similar to a tepee). The travelers will help to indigenous population: to conduct medical examinations, to deliver mail, to fish, to tidy up in choums and fulfill other kinds of work. The second part is cultural and entertaining. Creative concerts, national sports competitions, interactive contests and national rituals are planned within the second part of the program for tundra population. The youth festival of traditions of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North will be the final action of the expedition. It will include thematic platforms on decorative and applied art, ethnography, national cuisine and the exhibition-contest "My genealogic tree".
