Climate change, business and science will connect Yamal and Great Britain

The delegation of Yamal was invited to participate in the international conference on climate change under the aegis of the UN. It will be held in the UK in November this year. Richard Dewell, Consul General of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Yekaterinburg gave the information to journalists on the 27th of February.

A year ago he entered upon the office at the Embassy in Yekaterinburg. Previously he worked in New York and Bishkek.

At the meeting Sergey Uramayev, the first deputy director for external relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and the Consul General discussed opportunities for further development of cooperation between the UK and Yamal in the spheres of business, science, education, culture and sports.

As Richard Dewell says, Yamal is a region with rich nature. The sides are also interested in cooperation in the sphere of climate change. Because climate change is an area that everyone is interested in right now. He adds that this is his first visit to the arctic region.
