“Gazprom Neft” will find the key to “difficult” reserves of extractive fields in Yamal

A subsidiary of “Gazprom Neft” – “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” will start development of Neocomian-Jurassic deposits of Bovanenkovskoye oil, gas, condensate field and Kharasaveyskoye gas condensate field on the Yamal Peninsula and also Achimov deposits and oil rims of Urengoyskoye oil, gas, condensate field in Nadym-Pur-Tazovskiy area of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The projects will be implemented on the basis of long-term risk operating agreements with the license holders “Gazprom dobycha Nadym” and “Gazprom dobycha Urengoy”, which develop overlying strata of the extractive fields. When developing the new assets, “Gazprom Neft” will use its experience and competences in development of the Achimov Formation and oil rims. The projects will be implemented in cooperation with “Gazprom” on the main stages for unconditional achievement of established key indicators of effectiveness.

This year “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” will set up one cluster site and will drill two wells on each field - Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye - to remove geological uncertainties. In total, the company will build more than 250 high-tech wells within the project, as the press center of “Gazprom Neft” reports. The start of industrial development of Neocomian-Jurassic deposits of Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields is planned for 2025 and 2026. The maximum annual level of extraction at the assets will be reached by 2031 and will make more than 38 milliard cubic meters of gas and up to 4 million 100 thousand tonnes of condensate. Now the fields are being prepared and equipped with cluster sites.

Two exploitation gas condensate wells will be drilled in Urengoyskoye field in 2020. The data received with their help will assist to clarify geological features of the structure of Achimov deposits on the area 3A of the field. In total, “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” plans to drill 32 high-tech horizontal wells at this asset. The peak level of extraction is expected in 2024. It will make 5 milliard cubic meters of gas and up to 1 million 500 thousand tonnes of gas condensate. Development of a Valanginian deposit of oil rims in Urengoyskoye field will be the second phase of the project. Now the company is preparing the program on re-testing of exploration wells. Its results will be used when choosing the concept of development of a Neocomian deposit.

They are unique in their scale and complexity. At the same time, each project has a long investment cycle, so we start preparing for their development already now. In the next 5-10 years exactly these assets will become the basis for the company’s development in the North of Yamal and one of the key sources of our extraction in the Sub-Arctic.
