More than 41 thousand electors in Yamal voted ahead of the schedule

41135 electors in Yamal voted ahead of the schedule. They are representatives of indigenous peoples residing in remote villages and nomadic camps and also employees working on a rotational basis on enterprises with uninterrupted cycle of work.

In spite of surprises of the weather, which during about a week prevented from plans on the prescheduled voting, the precinct commissions not only fulfilled but also over-fulfilled the planned indexes. The increase in the number of early voters is connected with the so-called “perevakhtovka” (changeover), in which the heads of fuel and energy companies repeatedly supplemented the original lists. In the region the prescheduled voting on the election of the president was started on the 25th of January and was finished at 18:00 on the 17th of March. It took place in 7 districts: Krasnoselkoup, Purovskiy, Tazovskiy, Priuralskiy, Shuryshkarskiy, Yamalskiy and Nadymskiy districts. Tazovskiy district showed the biggest attendance, 11819 electors voted there, and Nadymskiy district – 9458 voters. 450 reindeer herders and fishermen voted ahead of the schedule in Shuryshkarskiy district. 16 helicopters MI-8 provided the prescheduled voting, 6 helicopters were on standby. All of them were equipped with portable GPS-navigators, what allowed checking routes of the flight if necessary. Also the representatives of precinct electoral commissions reached the voters by snowmobiles, Trecol vehicles and reindeer teams.
