Places for rendering medical help to tundra people will be defined in tundra of Yamal

In Salekhard the interdepartmental working group on increase of quality and accessibility of medical help for indigenous peoples of the North, who conduct traditional economic activity, discussed the plan of joint activities.

The director of the regional department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North Inna Sotruyeva offered her colleagues – chiefs and specialists of the departments of health protection, agro-industrial complex, information technologies and communication – to formulate recommendations for bodies of the executive power and local self-government. As the director of the department informs, the committee should define optimal places for location of multifunctional centers on territories of municipalities, with consideration of the number of nomadic population and routes of reindeer pasturing. As she notes, population conducting nomadic way of life is registered in some towns such as Salekhard, Gubkinskiy and Muravlenko. Thus, the issue on providing them with medical help, when they travel with their deer herds in tundra, was formed. The committee laid the task to enumerate requirements to the necessary set of buildings and completing of equipment for rendering medical help in the defined points on the department of health protection. After that bodies of local self-government can calculate cost estimates. The participants of the conference underline that the talk is not about medical and obstetrical stations, which should be licensed. It is more expedient to deliver basically portable equipment to multifunctional centers, when it is necessary. The department of information technologies and communication should provide specialists of health centers, departments and rooms of medical prevention, who go to tundra to render medical services to population, with mobile satellite communication. And also the department should suggest using these or those kinds of communication with consideration of their accessibility after defining of the points for location of these centers. As it is underlined within the sitting, it needs to introduce and teach topics about rendering of medical first aid, understanding of life-threatening signs and neonatal care within lessons in colleges of Yamal. Also the following obligation was laid on the departments of education and health protection – to motivate graduates from educational organizations of Yamal to enter secondary and higher educational medical institutions.
