Reindeer herders recognized experience of Yamalskiy district as unique

The permanent visiting conference of the board of the Yamal Union of Reindeer Herders with heads of reindeer-herding economies, bodies of the state power and local self-government took place in Nadym.

Reindeer-herding experience of Yamalskiy district was scrutinized within the conference. The director of the department of agro-industrial complex, trade and foodstuff of Yamal Vyacheslav Kucherenko spoke on the report about state of affairs in the branch. The director of the department on affairs of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North Inna Sotruyeva told about measures of state support to representatives of indigenous peoples. This information was given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" by the chairperson of the board of the Yamal Union of Reindeer Herders Leonid Khudi. According to his information, experience of Yamalskiy district is unique, first of all, with so that reindeer-herding routes here make more than 1000 kilometers: from the coast of the Kara Sea to Nadym district. Traditions of long nomadic reindeer-herding travels, unfortunately, were lost in majority of northern regions of Russia. In the opinion of Leonid Khudi, in Yamalskiy district they were kept in full amount, in much owing to the acting program of social support of reindeer herders. At the present time help is rendered here because of the last year loss of reindeer. Compensations from the reserve fund for lost animals make from 24 to 70 thousand rubles. The opportunity to compensate losses of reindeer for those, who stay in the branch, is being scrutinized. Help in purchase of a house can be given to those reindeer herders, who lost very many reindeer. According to the words of the chairperson of the board, it is planned to solve many questions till the 4th of April. After the district gathering of reindeer herders in Yar-Salye the nomads will go to summer reindeer pastures. As Leonid Khudi notes, the participants of the conference asked questions to chiefs of specialized departments about situation of women working in the branch, about subsidizing of products for private reindeer herders. Especially they focused attention on necessity to subsidize venison, which is sold beyond the limits of the region. Now its amount grew. After the conference the participants signed agreements about cooperation between the Yamal Union of Reindeer Herders, the department on affairs of indigenous peoples and the department of agro-industrial complex, trade and foodstuff. Also the agreement about cooperation between the public organizations was signed by the chairperson of the board of the Yamal Union of Reindeer Herders and the president of the Union of Reindeer Herders of Nenets Autonomous Okrug Vyacheslav Vyucheysky.
