The Arctic master courses. Graduates of Yamal choose Industrial University of Tyumen

Industrial University of Tyumen has already accepted 727 applications for intramural education from among applicants from Yugra and Yamal (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). The interest in the University among graduates of the northern regions is traditionally high.

262 applications were submitted from graduates from Yugra, 224 – from Yamal for education on secondary vocational education programs. 169 applications from Yugra and 72 – from Yamal were accepted for the bachelor degree course.

The unified admission campaign is one of advantages of Industrial University of Tyumen on the market of educational services. “In any of three branches of the University in Surgut, Noyabrsk or Nizhnevartovsk applicants from Yamal and Yugra can submit an application both for education in the branch and education in Tyumen. It is very convenient”, as the head of the admission committee of the Industrial University of Tyumen Vasiliy Shitiy said. – “We have all the conditions for non-resident students. The total number of places in dormitories of Industrial University of Tyumen makes 4.5 thousand. After enrollment any non-resident student can submit an application for accommodation in the dormitory. The opportunity of accommodation in the dormitory is provided for the whole time of study at the University. The applicant can also use a place in the dormitory for the period of entrance examinations and submission of documents”. And although in recent years the University actively extends geography of students, increasing it with cities of Russia, near and far foreign countries, but the main backbone of students is made by residents of Tyumen Oblast. From year to year the number of students from Tyumen, towns and districts of the South of Tyumen Oblast, Yamal and Yugra makes not less than 70 percent of the total number of students. Today applicants have interest in the so-called arctic spheres of education. Within the task “Increase in efficiency of development of the Russian Arctic zone” of the strategic project “Technopolis” Industrial University of Tyumen started fulfillment of the unique program on project arctic master’s degree courses. According to the press service of Industrial University of Tyumen, the key idea is in forming of project teams from candidates for a master’s degree in different areas: IT-profile, geology, social and humanitarian profile, which work under supervision of leading researchers on real projects aimed at solving of problems of development of the territories and resources in the Arctic.
