The Victory Parade in the capital of Yamal

The Victory Parade and laying flowers to the memorial dedicated to people, who had died in the Great Patriotic War, took place in the town Salekhard – the capital of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The column being headed by the military machinery of the war time and military men dressed in the uniform of the 40-s marched from the Square near the sports complex to the memorial. About 2000 inhabitants of Salekhard – military men, representatives of law enforcement structures, working collectives, educational institutions - solemnly lined up at the monument to their fallen ancestors. Hundreds copies of the Victory Banner fluttered above the column, volunteers of the movement "Immortal Regiment" in their hands carried photographs of veterans of the war. The Minute of Silence was announced in the honor of the fallen heroes. Only the sound of the metronome broke the silence. Three-shot rifle salute gave a start to the beginning of the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers. The acting governor of Yamal Dmitriy Kobylkin, representatives of the government and the Legislative Assembly of Yamal were the first to lay flowers to the Eternal Flame. Many people and guests of the regional capital brought enormous number of white and red carnations. Each person had own reason to come to the memorial. One man said: "My grandfather passed through the whole war, the 9th of May is a special day for me". Another man, a young father tells that he brought his daughter with him: "It needs that she would remember about her ancestors and about the Victory since her childhood".
