“TransUral: polar ultra marathon”

The second international “TransUral: polar ultra marathon” will be held in Yamal on the 17th and the 18th of August. On the 12th of April the head of the project “TransUral” Anton Zhiganov gave this information to journalists of Yamal.

The event will bring together the best mountain marathoners from different Russian cities, as well as representatives of foreign countries. It makes the event more unique and gives it the international format.

“This year the expected number of participants is almost two times bigger - about 500 people. We have already received 60 applications”, Anton Zhiganov said.

The race distance is laid through the most beautiful places of the area: the Sob River, Pour-Keu Mountain and the Romantics glacier. When traveling in the mountains on the way it is possible to see both flat terrains and mountain areas. Therefore, everyone will choose a distance as one is able - 50, 30 and 10 kilometers.

The head of the TransUral project underlines that it is a unique project for the Arctic region. The regional department of tourism and youth policy and the establishment “Yamal-Tour” are the co-organizers of the project.
