“Wings of the Arctic”. LUKOIL helps to develop light aviation in Yamal

The air fleet of the Federation of light and ultra-light aircrafts “Wings of the Arctic” of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was replenished with the third amphibian aircraft L-42M. It became possible at support of the company “LUKOIL – Western Siberia” (the 100-percent affiliated enterprise of LUKOIL).

Financing of the project is conducted within the agreement on cooperation between LUKOIL and the government of Yamal. Light aircrafts of the Federation are used at patrolling of the territories of Yamalskiy, Nadymskiy and Tarko-Salye forestry areas. Together with the department on science and innovations of Yamal the Federation fulfills scientific expeditions to the Gydan peninsula, the islands Vilkitsky and Beliy. One more unique model of the amphibian aircraft will appear soon in the air fleet of “Wings of the Arctic”. Building of L-172 for 7 seats is being completed in Samara. It is designed with consideration of individual needs of the Federation and increased requirements for flights in arctic conditions. This information was given to the Agency for oil and gas information in the press-service of “LUKOIL – Western Siberia”. Also with assistance of oil workers in the beginning of 2018 the employees of the regional organization started lessons in the opened school of primary training of pilots of ultra-light aircrafts. Novices make flights on the training aircraft A-22 “Aeroprakt” purchased under support of LUKOIL. The first group of 6 people successfully passed the two-month course on piloting. In total each student flew 28.5 hours. Licenses of pilots of light and ultra-light aircrafts were given by the results of the training course. In addition, the company helps to equip the base of the Federation.
