“Sukhoi Superjet”. “Yamal Airlines” started transporting bigger number of passengers during the first year of flights

The company “Yamal Airlines” exploits a new kind of aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100” during a year. The operator received the first of them in the updated livery of the carrier with the image of the polar bear on the fin in March last year. The first commercial flight took place in late April.

The airline company, including due to the beginning of exploitation of the new kind of aircrafts, increased passenger flow on 2.1% up to 1 million and 455 thousand passengers last year. During January-March of this year the number of passengers transported by “Yamal Airlines” grew on 30.2% and achieved for 258 thousand and 800 people. The first three aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100” designed for transportation of 103 passengers in a cabin of economy class were registered in leasing through the State Transport Leasing Company per one year. The airline company decided not to prolong their rent, as the variant with the opportunity to suggest flights in business class to clients is more suitable for the operator. The company “Yamal Airlines” received other 6 aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100” with extended range in the beginning of this year and took to leasing per 12 years. The feature of the aircrafts is in a convertible variant of a cabin, which allows the company deciding whether a flight will be in one-class seating or a part of passengers will be able to fly in business class. After receiving of 6 aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100” the company “Yamal Airlines”, 98.2% of shares of which is in property of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, became the third Russian operator of aircrafts of this type by the number of exploited aircrafts. This year “Yamal Airlines” will replenish its fleet with other 10 aircrafts of “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company” production in conformity with the agreement signed last year. These aircrafts will also have a convertible variant of a cabin. In total, the airline company plans to receive up to 25 aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100”, as ato.ru informs. “Sukhoi Superjet 100” will replace Boeings in connection with the end of the leasing time. Further, it is expected that the fleet of the airline company will consist of aircrafts “Sukhoi Superjet 100” and Airbus A320/321. Now the company has two aircrafts A321 and seven A320. Also “Yamal Airlines” will continue exploitation of regional aircrafts CRJ200LR and L-410UVP-E20. In general, the company is satisfied with the Russian regional aircraft “Sukhoi Superjet 100”. During the first year of flights the aircraft showed itself well in conditions of frosts 50C degrees below zero. At that, there are some difficulties with spare parts and servicing. According to the information from open sources, “Yamal Airlines” is getting ready to create own aviation technical center for these aircrafts. A hangar complex is being designed for servicing of “Sukhoi Superjet 100”. It is expected that in 1.5 years specialists of the operator will be able to fulfill the bigger part of work on the aircrafts.
