The new Russian-Nenets dictionary was published

"The Russian-Nenets dictionary" reflecting changes in vocabulary and grammar of Nenets language, which had taken place in the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, was published.

It passed through phonetic and morphologic changes under influence of Russian language. In the result, scientific and research processing of words, notions, terms, their precise translations were required, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs. The new edition contains about 20 thousand vocabulary articles, where a Russian word is translated in to Nenets literary language. By its structure the dictionary is normative and covers vocabulary laid into the basis of Nenets written speech. At that, materials of earlier published Russian-Nenets dictionaries were taken into consideration at its creation as well as writing of Nenets words was unified in conformity with orthographical norms of modern Nenets language. The leading specialist on study of Nenets language and culture, of Samoyedic languages, the honorary professor of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, St. Petersburg Maria Barmich is the author of the dictionary. She wrote other 140 works, including 30 textbooks and manuals. Publication of the dictionary was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the scientist-philologist. Organizing work was conducted by the chief of the sector of ethnology at the scientific center for study of the Arctic, candidate of historical sciences Galina Kharyuchi. The dictionary will be used as a manual in secondary special and higher education institutions. It will be necessary for wide scientific researches, for schoolchildren, students and graduates and also for people, who are interested in Nenets language.
