The unique storage of associated petroleum gas will be built in Messoyakha
“Messoyakhaneftegaz” received the license for construction and operation of storage of associated petroleum gas (APG) in the West Messoyakha field in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The storage will allow the asset to provide the target index for utilization of APG being extracted within development of the East Messoyakha oil, gas, condensate field. It is planned to fulfill the project in 2020. The information was given to the news agency “Sever-Press” in the press-service of “Gazprom Neft”.
The decision to pump APG from one oil-bearing field into gas reservoirs of the neighboring area is unique for oil industry and will allow effectively using natural resources of the polar region. Now, within fulfillment of the project, the compressor station with the capacity 1 milliard 500 million cubic meters of gas per year is being built, and the first kilometers of the gas pipeline are being installed and laid in the East-Messoyakhskoye field. In 2019-2020 two clusters with directional wells will be built in the West-Messoyakhskoye field for pumping APG into a gas deposit with the area 92 thousand square meters and the average effective gas-saturated capacity 17.5 meters. In construction of objects of gas treatment and transportation it is planned to use main equipment of domestic production only.
“The project on rational use of associated petroleum gas supposes simultaneous construction of several large objects of gas infrastructure on the territory of two license areas of the asset - East and West. It requires from the team of “Messoyakha” for synchronization of complex processes, accurate observance of the schedule of delivery of equipment and resources to the arctic autonomy, safe implementation of operations. The license for construction and operation of the underground storage and objects of gas infrastructure will allow the oil company to implement the non-standard project that is of great importance for ecology of the mainland Arctic”, said Viktor Sorokin, the director general of “Messoyakhaneftegaz”.
The Messoyakha group of extractive fields includes the East Messoyakha and West Messoyakha areas located on the Gydan Peninsula of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. According to the proven hydrocarbon reserves, they are referred to unique ones. The project is fulfilled in conditions of limited access to transport and industrial infrastructure.
Licenses for both blocks belong to “Messoyakhaneftegaz”, which is controlled by “Gazprom Neft” and “Rosneft” on the parity basis. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin launched operation of the East Messoyakha field on the 21st of September in 2016 in the mode of the teleconference. In 2018 the annual production in the East Messoyakha field made 4 million 500 thousand tonnes of oil.
